In 2003, 22 deaths in Linn County were attributed to suicide.

The suicide mortality rate of 10.8 is slightly higher than the State rate of 10.6.

Linn County Mental Health Services Planning Committee (MHSPC)

Mission: Reducing the suicide mortality rate through prevention and education and improving access to available mental health services for children and youth through improved identification and linkage.

Activities of the MHSPC have included reviewing data, identifying and prioritizing unmet needs and gaps in services, monitoring Linn County's MHDD Management Plan, improving transition from the child to adult service system, and coordinating efforts to assess children's mental health needs and resources within Linn County.
