The rate of breast cancer incidence in Linn County in 2000 was higher than the State.

The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2005 about 145,290 people will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer and about 56,290 will die.

Women's Health Network

Vision: Every woman is healthy, well and aware.

The Women's Health Network was created to oversee the implementation of the Iowa Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (IABCCEDP) in Linn County, Iowa. Healthy Linn Care Network was chosen as the subcontractor by Linn County Public Health. The Women's Health Network (WHN) was formed and dialogue began on how to best implement the program. WHN partners, area professionals working in women’s health care, are passionate caregivers and excellent collaborators

Colorectal Cancer Committee (2002)

Vision: Will maintain a strong focus on colorectal cancer to assist in facilitating the American Cancer Society's goals of reducing the mortality rate associated with this chronic disease.

The potential for saving lives through community education and colon cancer screening is enormous, and community-wide collaboration is the key to making this happen. That is why the Colon Cancer Committee was formed in 2002.
